A Grid-Free 20 ft office rents for $1,495/mo from our yard in Gypsum, plus the applicable zone delivery fee, and a $750 deposit reserves the unit and delivery window. It carries a 3-month minimum in Zones A–E and combines an office, solar power, a 10 kWh battery, Starlink and a site camera in one rental.

The reason to choose it is direct: the temporary-power connection is no longer on the critical path. Grid-Free can support the field office before a utility pedestal, service drop or generator circuit is ready, while giving the superintendent heat, cooling, lights, outlets and connectivity at the point of work.

What kind of office is Grid-Free?

Grid-Free starts with the same working interior as the 20 ft office family. It is a 20 ft ISO container office with a 36-inch steel personnel door, two barred slider windows, mini-split heat and cooling, lights, outlets and a vinyl-plank floor. The 50-amp shore-power inlet is still there, but Grid-Free does not need it to run.

The energy system changes where that office can work. The built-in solar array charges a 10 kWh battery pack that runs the office, mini-split included. Built-in CONNECT provides Starlink Mini and a router with 50 GB Roam, and built-in WATCH puts a solar LTE panoramic camera on the unit with motion alerts and cloud clips.

That combination fits remote laydown yards, access-road work and new sites where the electrical utility's temporary-power lead time is the schedule risk. It also fits ranch and agriculture work, oil and gas locations, and wildfire or emergency-response staging where running a new shore-power circuit just for a field office is impractical.

Grid-Free is not a promise that communications or energy conditions never change. Starlink, LTE and solar depend on sky view, weather and load, and JOLT does not guarantee uptime under Rental Agreement §13.2. The field plan still needs a way to respond to prolonged poor weather, obstructed sky or unusually heavy electrical demand.

For a site that already has dependable electrical service, compare the Base 20 ft office. Base supplies the same core office and can take selected upgrades individually or the JOLT PACK. Grid-Free is the purpose-built step up when energy independence, not merely accessory power, is the requirement.

What does Grid-Free cost?

Rent is $1,495/mo, and the reservation deposit is $750. The deposit reserves a specific unit and delivery window and applies to the first invoice under Rental Agreement §2.1; it is not an extra monthly charge.

Offices have a 3-month minimum in Zones A–E. Rent starts at delivery, remains due through the minimum, and then continues month to month until the required written pickup notice and retrieval. Rates increase 5% on each anniversary of delivery, and sales tax is additional.

The monthly invoice also carries the 5% environmental fee and, unless you post a deposit and insurance instead, the 12% damage waiver, both calculated on rent plus recurring upgrades. The waiver covers defined accidental damage subject to a deductible and exclusions; it is not insurance, and theft, vandalism, unauthorized relocation, snow-load neglect and upgrade hardware are excluded. The alternative is the refundable deposit and certificate of insurance described in Rental Agreement §10.

Delivery and pickup are separate from monthly rent. Use published pricing and the delivery-zone schedule to budget the whole mobilization, not just the monthly line. In Zones A–E, pickup equals the delivery fee; Zone F pickup is handled differently and is quoted before dispatch.

JOLT Express is not available for Grid-Free. Only Base is eligible for that service, so plan on the standard 2–4 week delivery window for this tier and use the live availability badge at the top of the page when scheduling.

What equipment arrives with the office?

The shell measures 20 ft by 8 ft by 8 ft 6 in externally under ISO 668. Before fit-out, the bare shell offers about 19 ft 3 in of length, 7 ft 8 in of width and 7 ft 8 in of height under ISO 668 minimum interior dimensions; the finished office gives up some of that to insulation, wall lining and the mini-split, so confirm the finished interior for the assigned unit if a desk layout depends on inches. It is enough for a compact field team without adding the towing geometry, steps and elevated floor of a conventional office trailer.

The 36-inch steel personnel door is the daily entrance. Two barred slider windows bring in daylight and allow cross-ventilation when weather permits, while the mini-split handles normal heating and cooling. Lights, outlets and a cleanable vinyl-plank floor make the delivered unit usable as an office rather than an empty container shell.

The camera remains JOLT hardware. WATCH records at the site, so required notices, signage and consents are the customer's responsibility under Rental Agreement §13.3. Decide camera aim and site-notice requirements before the office is occupied.

CONNECT is useful when the trailer pad is beyond cable or fiber, but it needs a clear view of the sky. A superintendent should treat connectivity and electrical load as managed resources, not invisible utilities.

The complete package is aimed at off-grid and remote work. On ranch and agriculture work it can sit nearer the active operation instead of the nearest meter. On oil and gas sites it can support a separated field office, while wildfire and emergency teams can establish a heated or cooled coordination point without waiting for temporary utility service.

Which upgrades can be added?

Only three recurring upgrades stack on Grid-Free because WATCH, CONNECT and POWER are already built in. READY is $125/mo, a second WATCH camera is $60/mo, and unlimited Starlink is $75/mo. Adding another copy of the included systems would duplicate hardware rather than improve the configured office.

The READY package adds a plan table, two chairs, whiteboard, mini-fridge, microwave and a 1,500 W heater. It is useful when the office must open with a working meeting surface and basic break equipment instead of waiting for a separate furniture delivery. Those added loads still count against the available off-grid energy, so the field team should manage simultaneous appliance and HVAC use.

A second camera makes sense when one view cannot cover both the gate and the equipment side of the site. The second unit supplements site procedure; it does not replace fencing, lighting, locks or daily checks.

Unlimited Starlink removes the 50 GB Roam allowance from the included CONNECT service. It does not remove the need for sky view or create an uptime promise. Video meetings, large plan sets and cloud synchronization can drive the decision, while a small crew using email and daily reports may be able to remain on the included plan.

Upgrade kits are normally fitted in our yard before delivery and can also be added during a rental. Hardware stays JOLT's and bills monthly with rent. Select the needed items in the reservation flow so the dispatch configuration matches the site's opening-day plan.

What does the site need before the truck arrives?

Start with a firm, level and well-drained pad. The placement must keep the door, condenser, solar panels and camera useful while leaving a clear route for future pickup. Soft fill, drainage paths and a pad that will be boxed in by later work all create avoidable field problems.

Our tilt-bed or flatbed truck needs about 70 ft of straight-line clearance for a 20 ft unit. Walk the full approach for road width, grade, turning room, overhead wires, branches, gate posts, eaves, parked machines and material stacks. Utilities must be located and marked, and a customer representative must be present to direct final placement under Rental Agreement §5.2.

Solar panels and Starlink need an open view of the sky. Avoid a placement shaded for most of the workday or hemmed in by structures, steep terrain or dense trees, and account for where cranes or new framing will stand later. In Leadville, above 10,000 ft, a clear southern exposure and an accessible winter service path deserve attention during the site walk.

Weather and load remain operating variables. The customer must keep snow, ice and debris off the roof, condenser, panels, doors and access paths under Rental Agreement §7.4. The field team can use the answer on powering an office without electricity to plan loads, but covered panels cannot collect available light and blocked equipment cannot work as intended.

The customer is responsible for permits, zoning, HOA and landlord consents. JOLT places the office where the customer's representative directs, and site damage from that directed placement belongs to the customer. Do not move or lift the unit yourself; an on-site move is performed by our truck for $450.

Grid-Free is an office, not sleeping quarters. No residence or overnight sleeping, hazardous materials, stacking, welding, cutting, drilling or painting is allowed. The winter office answer covers practical cold-weather use, but the operating rules and snow-clearing duty still apply.

How does delivery work across the Rocky Mountain West?

Reserve the unit, select the delivery window and provide the job address and placement information. The standard window is 2–4 weeks from reservation. Our yard team fits the selected READY, second-camera or data option, then our truck carries the configured office from Gypsum to the marked pad.

Colorado examples: Minturn is Zone B — $550 each way; Leadville and Grand Junction are Zone D — $950 each way. Pickup in Zones A–E is charged at the same amount as delivery. Mountain access can be tighter than the map suggests, so send accurate gate, turn, grade and overhead information before dispatch.

Zone F extends the service area to Mountain West placements such as Bozeman and Sun Valley. Every Zone F placement has a 12-month minimum, delivery is $1,795, and pickup is quoted in writing before delivery. Put those terms in the project budget before the reservation is placed.

Remote does not mean inaccessible. The delivery truck must still reach a safe, prepared pad, and the office must remain reachable throughout the rental. A failed trip is charged under Rental Agreement §5, so tell JOLT about seasonal roads, closures, narrow gates or changing site conditions before the truck leaves Gypsum.

What happens when the project is ready for pickup?

Give at least 15 days' written notice when the office is no longer needed. Rent continues until JOLT retrieves the unit, not merely until the crew moves out. Keep the pickup route and required working clearance open even if staging, fencing and material storage have changed since delivery.

Remove company property and leave the office empty, clean, accessible and free of customer attachments. Property left inside is deemed abandoned, and a failed pickup trip is charged under Rental Agreement §16. Do not remove the solar, battery, Starlink, camera, JOLT signage or telematics.

Before our truck arrives, clear snow and ice from the roof, panels, condenser, door and access route. Confirm that the camera view, furniture and any added site controls no longer block loading. In Zones A–E the pickup fee equals the delivery fee; for Zone F, use the written pickup quote issued before delivery.
