Delivery to Basalt is Zone C — $750 each way over 51 miles from our Gypsum yard. Local sites often need a compact storage box or an office that can work beyond utility service, and the full fleet price table appears near the end.
Which county issues the permit for a Basalt site?
Basalt crosses the Eagle County and Pitkin County line, so the street name alone does not identify the reviewing office. The town is a home rule municipality with 3,984 residents in the 2020 census, 2,917 of them on the Eagle County side and 1,067 on the Pitkin County side (U.S. Census Bureau).
Start with the parcel boundary, not a mailing address. A project inside town limits goes to the Town of Basalt, while land beyond those limits goes to the community development department for the county containing the parcel.
| Site location | First office to ask | Detail to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Inside Basalt town limits | Town of Basalt | Siting, access and any local approval |
| Eagle County, outside town | Eagle County | County land-use and permit rules |
| Pitkin County, outside town | Pitkin County | County land-use and permit rules |
The Willits area is on the Eagle County side, but you should still verify whether the exact parcel is inside town limits. Do not use a nearby business, subdivision name or ZIP code as a substitute for that check.
Show the proposed unit on the site plan when you speak with the reviewing office. Include its location, truck approach, door direction, setbacks and the length of time it will remain, then ask whether any separate placement approval is required.
Permits, zoning clearance, HOA approval and landlord consent remain your responsibility under Rental Agreement §5. We place the unit where your representative directs, and site damage resulting from that direction remains your responsibility.
Basalt also sits where the Fryingpan River meets the Roaring Fork, and Fryingpan Road climbs east toward Ruedi Reservoir. A parcel up that corridor can have a Basalt address while presenting a very different approach from a level commercial site near Colorado 82.
The Lake Christine Fire burned above Basalt and El Jebel in July 2018 (Aspen Times coverage). Ask the fire district how fuel storage, combustible clearance and defensible space apply to your exact placement rather than treating the steel shell as an answer by itself.
What can the delivery truck reach from Gypsum?
Our truck leaves Gypsum, travels west on I-70 through Glenwood Canyon to Glenwood Springs, then turns up Colorado 82 past Carbondale. Basalt is 51 road miles from the yard, the first of the three Roaring Fork towns our truck reaches after Carbondale.
Basalt is 18 miles closer than Aspen, but our delivery zones are rings rather than a meter, so both towns carry the same Zone C fee. The same rule works the other way: a Basalt ZIP never inherits Carbondale's shorter run.
Standard delivery uses a 2–4 week window from reservation. JOLT Express puts only the 20 ft Base office on site within 7 business days for $750; it is not available for storage, other office tiers, fence or equipment.
Glenwood Canyon has faced safety closures since the 2020 Grizzly Creek Fire. Per CDOT, I-70 can close there during flash-flood warnings over the burn scar and after rockfall or debris flows.
If the canyon closes before our truck leaves Gypsum, we do not roll. We text you and reschedule, and no trip fee applies because the failed-delivery charge only arises once the truck reaches your site; a road closure is an event beyond our reasonable control under Rental Agreement §23.
Independence Pass is not an alternate delivery route. CDOT closed it for the 2025–26 winter on November 17, 2025 and reopened it May 21, 2026, and CDOT prohibits vehicles 35 ft or longer on the pass in every season.
Our tilt-bed with a unit aboard exceeds that length. Every Roaring Fork trip therefore returns through Glenwood Canyon rather than crossing the 12,095 ft pass east of Aspen.
Before dispatch, send us photos or a slow video from the public road to the proposed pad. Capture gate width, bends, overhead lines, branches, soft shoulders, grades and the straight lane where the truck will unload.
How should a Fryingpan Road site be prepared?
A container footprint is only one part of access. A 20 ft unit needs about 70 ft of straight-line clearance, while a 40 ft unit needs about 100 ft, as explained in how much space delivery needs.
Prepare a firm, level and well-drained pad that supports a loaded tilt-bed as well as the unit. Mark underground and overhead utilities, clear turning room, and keep a representative on site with authority to choose the final position.
Narrow gravel approaches need an honest check before reservation. Walk the route at truck height, note drainage dips and tight curves, and make sure the driver can leave without backing farther than the plan assumes.
Placement must also work at pickup. New trenching, stockpiles, fence panels, snow storage and parked subcontractor vehicles can consume the straight lane that was open on delivery day.
If our truck reaches the property but cannot set because the pad, access, weather at the site or representative is not ready, the delivery fee applies to that trip and the next trip under Rental Agreement §5. That is different from a canyon closure before departure.
We set the box where your representative directs, and damage to the site from that placement is yours. You may not drag, tow, lift or reposition it after delivery; an on-site move by our truck is $450.
Door orientation deserves a stake in the ground before arrival. Face cargo doors toward the controlled work area, leave room for both leaves, and keep a plow path from building a frozen berm across the entrance.
For remote river-corridor work, preserve a clear view of the sky before selecting satellite service or solar. Trees, canyon walls, structures and future material piles all matter more than assumptions about nearby service.
Which storage and office size fits the work?
Choose by access pattern first. The 10 ft storage container has half the floor of a 20 ft, a man door, a barred window and end cargo doors, so it fits a small pad where a longer box will not.
The 12 ft storage container is 8 ft wide at standard height. Its side man door and barred window make it useful as a walk-in tool crib, while the end cargo doors still accept larger deliveries.
A 20 ft storage container is the plain material room for framing stock, tools and boxed finishes. It is a one-trip standard-height ISO box with four lock bars, a welded lockbox, no windows and no man door; compare that history with older equipment in one-trip versus used containers.
Use the 40 ft high-cube storage container only when the site can preserve 100 ft of straight clearance. It is 9 ft 6 in tall, has twice the floor of the 20 ft box, and carries a 3-month minimum.
An office changes the daily pattern because crews enter repeatedly. The 20 ft office family gives you lights, outlets, vinyl-plank flooring, two barred slider windows, a 36-inch personnel door and mini-split heating and cooling.
The Base tier needs a 50-amp shore-power connection. Add READY furnishings for a plan table, 2 chairs, whiteboard, mini-fridge, microwave and 1,500 W heater when the field team needs a working room from the first morning.
The 20 ft Alpine office adds a standing-seam over-roof, covered entry deck and backup heat. Its matte black finish and cedar surrounds suit a visible placement, but camera, internet and solar remain separate options.
A 40 ft office with bathroom needs the long approach and a 3-month commitment. It includes an enclosed bathroom at the far end, mini-split, shore-power inlet, lights, outlets and vinyl-plank floor.
| Basalt work pattern | Practical first choice | Main site check |
|---|---|---|
| Tight infill or small remodel | 10 ft or 12 ft storage | Man-door path and truck lineup |
| Standard material staging | 20 ft storage | 70 ft straight clearance |
| Remote site office | 20 ft Grid-Free office | Firm pad and open sky |
| Long project phase | 40 ft storage or office | 100 ft straight clearance |
How do power, internet and security work off grid?
The 20 ft Grid-Free office combines the Base interior with WATCH, CONNECT and POWER. Its 10 kWh battery runs the HVAC, and it does not require shore power.
That package is useful where electrical service is late or absent, but the site still controls performance. Read how to power an office without electricity and the off-grid solar and battery guide before choosing the pad.
POWER can be added to another storage box or office for $399/mo. It provides two 400 W panels, a 3 kWh LFP battery and an inverter, enough for Starlink, the camera, lights and laptops; a Base office that runs its mini-split all day still wants shore power.
CONNECT adds Starlink Mini, a router and 50 GB Roam for $259/mo. Sky view for Starlink matters more than cell coverage up the Fryingpan, so inspect the horizon where the unit will actually sit.
WATCH is a solar LTE camera with motion alerts and cloud clips. Theft is excluded from the 12% damage waiver, so WATCH improves observation rather than changing who carries the loss.
JOLT PACK combines WATCH, CONNECT and POWER on a compatible unit for $699/mo. Grid-Free already includes all three and can instead take READY, a second camera or unlimited Starlink.
Temporary site services can travel with the main unit. Temporary fence uses 6 ft by 10 ft galvanized chain-link panels on steel stands, with install and removal priced by the linear foot.
For winter work, a light tower provides 4 LED floodlights on a trailer-mounted mast reaching about 30 ft. A ground heater uses hydronic heat and insulated hose to thaw ground or cure concrete in season.
Traffic control ranges from a 25-cone Basic set to a Full set with the Standard equipment plus a solar arrow board and 2 flashing barricade lights. A portable hand-wash station can accompany any unit or be ordered alone.
What does a complete Basalt rental cost?
Zone C delivery is $750 and pickup is $750. The ZIP code on the placement address determines the zone; an El Jebel address shares Carbondale's 81623 and lands in the same Zone C, while a ZIP outside the published table receives a quote by text rather than an assumed fee.

Rent only, plus applicable sales tax. Damage waiver 12% and environmental fee 5% are added to rent; delivery is by zone.
A 20 ft Grid-Free office for its 3-month minimum is $1,495/mo rent, $750 delivery and $750 pickup. Add the 12% damage waiver and 5% environmental fee on rent and recurring upgrades, plus sales tax.
The reservation deposit is applied to the first invoice under Rental Agreement §2. Rent remains due for the full minimum term, then continues month to month until you give 15 days' written pickup notice and we retrieve the unit.
Rates increase 5% on each anniversary of delivery. Rent continues until retrieval, and a failed pickup caused by blocked access, site conditions or an unready unit carries the pickup fee for that trip and the next one under Rental Agreement §16.
The damage waiver costs 12% of rent plus recurring upgrades, with exclusions listed in Rental Agreement §12. The alternative is a refundable deposit equal to one month's rent plus a certificate of insurance.
How do you reserve for a Basalt address?
Reserve online, or send the quote form further down the page, with the exact placement address, requested unit and site contact. Review how rental works and our Colorado service area, then send route and pad photos if the site is beyond the Colorado 82 corridor.
The reservation deposit is applied to the first invoice. Written cancellation received more than 14 days before the first day of the delivery window is free; cancellation within 14 days forfeits the deposit under Rental Agreement §2.2.
We confirm the delivery window by text after reviewing the order and address. For nearby planning, compare access in Snowmass, where steep village roads change the placement check.
