Jobsite rentals in Golden — from our I-70 yard

Delivery to Golden is Zone E — $1,200 each way, on our own truck from the yard in Gypsum 124 road miles west on I-70, and the pickup trip at the end costs the same. The rent, deposits and upgrades underneath that fee are the published figures every crew from Vail to Castle Rock pays, so the trip is the only number that changes for Golden.

What does a mountain-yard rental cost delivered to Golden?

Golden sits at the far end of our delivery map, and we would rather show the arithmetic than bury it. A 20 ft Base office rents for $795/mo on a three-month minimum, and the round trip to Golden adds $1,200 at delivery and $1,200 at pickup. On a three-month job the two trips cost more than the rent; on a twelve-month job they spread to a fraction of one month's rent each month, which is where the offer starts to make sense against a Front Range quote.

Storage is where the trip hurts most. A 20 ft storage container rents for $295/mo on a one-month minimum, so two Zone E trips equal about eight months of rent on that box alone. If a single storage container for a short job is the whole order, a Denver-area yard with a short haul will beat us on total cost, and we tell callers that on the phone.

The order that pencils in Golden is the long one: an office, a storage box and a run of temporary fence on a project that runs a construction season or longer. Each unit is delivered and picked up at its own Zone E fee, so adding a box adds its own two trips; the fee never changes with the size of the box, and the months are what dilute it. A twelve-month office in Golden carries the same two trips as a three-month office and earns four times the use from them.

Write the comparison out in months rather than in monthly rates. Put the two zone trips, the deposit that is applied to the first invoice, the rent for the planned term, the waiver and environmental percentages and any upgrades in one column, then ask the Front Range yard for the same column with its own delivery, fuel, furniture, internet and damage lines filled in.

Two percentages ride on every invoice and belong in the comparison. The damage waiver is 12% of rent plus recurring upgrades, with the deductible and exclusions set out in Rental Agreement §12, and the environmental fee is 5% of the same base. Neither is hidden in a footnote, and neither compounds on the other.

When is a Front Range yard the better call?

We compete with yards that can reach Golden in under an hour, and the honest map of where they win is short. One storage container for less than a season, a same-week need that is not a Base office, or a site that will move three times before summer: those are local-yard orders, because our fee structure charges a full trip each time the truck rolls. An on-site relocation within the same property is $450, but a move across town is a pickup and a new delivery.

Where we win is the office itself and the way it is priced. The Base 20 ft office is a one-trip ISO container with a 36-inch steel personnel door, two barred slider windows, mini-split heat and cooling, a 50-amp shore-power inlet, lights, outlets and a vinyl-plank floor at the published $795/mo; Grid-Free adds the off-grid systems, Alpine adds the mountain envelope to Grid-Free, and the 40 ft bathroom tier carries its own published rent. When you compare, ask the other yard for its delivery charge to your ZIP, its damage waiver rate, its furnishing package price and whether the unit is one-trip or used, because those four lines are where quotes diverge, not the headline rent.

The other place we win is one yard for the whole compound. A superintendent at a campus job in Golden can put an office, storage, fence, a light tower, traffic control and a hand-wash station on one reservation, each at its published rent and its own Zone E delivery and pickup, instead of assembling five vendors. How does delivery from Gypsum to Golden work?

Reserve online or by phone, pay the deposit and choose the standard window, which is 2–4 weeks from reservation for every unit. Our driver takes I-70 east and finishes either down US-6 through Clear Creek Canyon or around on C-470, depending on the load and the road report that morning. The window and the fee are the same either way.

Golden sites are usually tight before they are remote. A 20 ft unit needs about 70 ft of straight-line clearance for our tilt-bed truck and a 40 ft unit needs about 100 ft, along with the overhead clearance, road width and turning room described in Rental Agreement §5.2. Historic downtown lots, campus service drives and infill sites off Washington Avenue rarely have that room by accident, so walk the truck path before you reserve and read how much space delivery takes.

A representative with authority to direct placement must be on site during the window, and the pad must be firm, level and well drained. If the truck arrives and cannot set the unit because of access, an absent representative or an unprepared pad, the trip is charged and rescheduled under §5.3. Mark the corners with paint or stakes so the driver, the site super and the gate guard all agree on the spot.

Do you need a permit for a container in Golden?

That depends on which side of the city limit the site is on, and it is your responsibility to find out. Under Rental Agreement §5.2(d) the customer holds all permits, approvals, zoning, HOA and landlord consents. Inside the city, start with Golden's planning and building staff; for Applewood, Genesee, Lookout Mountain and the other unincorporated pockets around the city, start with Jefferson County.

The questions to ask are the same in both offices. Whether a container on an active building permit needs a separate approval, how long a temporary unit may stay, what the setback from the property line is, and whether anything touching the public right of way needs its own permit. A container that sits on a Golden street or alley, even for an afternoon, is a right-of-way question before it is a zoning question.

Golden's biggest job generators are institutional. Colorado School of Mines, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's campus and the Coors brewery each run their own contractor rules, gate procedures and delivery hours, and Jefferson County's own facilities sit in the county seat. Get the owner's site-logistics plan in writing before the truck is dispatched, because a campus gate that closes mid-afternoon is as real a constraint as a setback.

What happens to the rental in a Golden winter?

Golden is foothills, not high country, but it sits in the downslope-wind belt along the Front Range and winter gusts are the first thing to plan for. Screened fence turns into a sail, so a screened run on an exposed lot needs ballast on every stand; tell us the exposure when you reserve. Keep the fence line off the crest of a cut where the wind can get under the panels.

Every office ships with mini-split heat and cooling, so a Base unit on shore power is warm from the first morning. Snow, ice and debris on roofs, condensers, panels, doors and access paths are the customer's to clear under Rental Agreement §7.4, and the pickup route has to stay open through March. The Alpine tier adds a standing-seam over-roof, a covered entry deck and backup heat to Grid-Free for $1,895/mo if the office will spend the winter above town.

Concrete does not wait for spring on a school or lab schedule. Which unit fits a Golden site?

Downtown infill and campus renovation work fits the small boxes. The 10 ft storage container at $225/mo and the 12 ft storage container at $325/mo sit in a single parking stall or a service alley, and the 12 ft unit has a man door and a barred window so it works as a walk-in tool crib. The 20 ft storage container is the default job box, and the 40 ft storage container at $425/mo on a three-month minimum holds a whole finish package.

For the office, the 20 ft office container comes in three tiers. Base at $795/mo is the everyday super's office on shore power; Grid-Free at $1,495/mo builds in the camera, Starlink and solar with a 10 kWh battery that runs the HVAC; Alpine adds the winter envelope to Grid-Free. A crew of more than a handful, or a job that must provide its own restroom, moves to the 40 ft office with bathroom at $1,595/mo, which needs the 100 ft approach.

Perimeter is priced by the foot. Temporary fence rents for $3.50/LF/mo in 6 ft by 10 ft galvanized panels with steel stands and clamps, with install at $1.75 per linear foot and removal at the same rate. How do you power and connect the office before the meter is set?

Metro sites get temporary power, but rarely on the day the office arrives, and a campus or municipal owner may not let a contractor tie into building power at all. Three upgrades close that gap on any Base office or storage unit. POWER at $399/mo is two 400 W panels with a 3 kWh battery and inverter that runs Starlink, the camera, lights and laptops; it does not run the mini-split, which is what the Grid-Free tier's larger battery is for.

CONNECT at $259/mo puts a Starlink Mini and router on the box with 50 GB of Roam data, and unlimited data is a $75/mo add-on. WATCH at $129/mo is a solar LTE camera with motion alerts and cloud clips, and a second camera for the other side of the site is $60/mo. The JOLT Pack bundles all three for $699/mo.

Two cautions belong here. Satellite and cellular service depend on sky view, weather and third-party networks, and solar output depends on sun and load, so Rental Agreement §13 makes no uptime promise and neither do we. And a camera on a Golden site records the public sidewalk as readily as the laydown yard, so the signage and notices required for recording are yours to post. Every price, published

Rent is due for the full minimum term, and after it the rental runs month to month until you give 15 days' written notice and we retrieve the unit. The rate rises 5% on each anniversary of delivery under Rental Agreement §3.4, and that section also governs month-to-month rates after the minimum term. Availability shows live on each product page, and a reservation is confirmed when the deposit is received.
