Hand-wash stations

A hand-wash station rents for $85/mo from our yard in Gypsum, and a $85 deposit reserves it for a 1-month minimum term. It is a portable, self-contained wash point with its own water supply, whether added to another JOLT rental or ordered alone.

Where does a portable hand-wash station fit?

This is the lowest monthly rental line in the JOLT fleet. It solves a narrow field problem: putting a self-contained wash point near the people who need it, without treating a distant building sink as part of the jobsite plan.

Pair one with a 20 ft office container so staff can wash before entering the plan room, using shared equipment or handling food. Placement outside the entrance helps separate the dirty approach from the working interior, while keeping the station visible enough to inspect.

A station beside a storage container gives crews a wash point near tools and material handling. That pairing can be useful at ranch operations, utility work and remote laydown yards where the day's work happens away from the main facility.

For events and festivals, stations can support food-service tents, staff areas and back-of-house routes. The event organizer still decides the count and placement required by the permit and operating plan; one station should not be stretched across disconnected areas simply because it is portable.

Wildfire and emergency camps can place stations near logistics, check-in or meal support. The incident team should assign water, consumables, cleaning and freeze protection as explicit camp tasks, because the rental station does not service itself.

The relevant federal rule is limited and specific: 29 CFR 1926.51(f)(1) requires adequate washing facilities near the worksite for employees applying paints, coatings, herbicides or insecticides or working with other harmful contaminants. Beyond that statement, many GC site-specific safety plans and event permits require hand-washing; verify the requirement that governs your operation rather than labeling the equipment broadly compliant.

What does the station cost?

Rent is $85/mo with a $85 reservation deposit. The deposit holds the station and delivery window, then is applied to the first invoice under Rental Agreement §2.

The minimum is 1 month in Zones A–E. After the minimum, the rental continues month to month until JOLT receives proper pickup notice and retrieves the station.

Zone F placements carry a 12-month minimum. That can make a stand-alone hand-wash order unsuitable for a short out-of-state event, so check term and transport before reserving rather than looking at the monthly line by itself.

Delivery and pickup are separate transport charges assigned by delivery zone. Pickup equals delivery in Zones A–E; Zone F (Wyoming, Idaho, Utah and Montana) carries a 12-month minimum, and its pickup is quoted in writing before delivery.

Recurring invoices include a 5% environmental fee and sales tax. Rates increase 5% on each anniversary of delivery, though most short station placements will conclude before an anniversary.

Putting the station on a planned container delivery means one arrival to coordinate instead of two. Ask JOLT to put both items on the reservation so the yard and the superintendent share one equipment list.

The pricing overview helps compare the station line with an office, storage container or other equipment on the same mobilization. It keeps monthly rent distinct from transport and other one-time charges.

For a full deposit refund, cancellation must be in writing more than 14 days before the first day of the delivery window. Inside 14 days, or if delivery is refused, the deposit is forfeited under Rental Agreement §2.

What arrives with the rental?

The rental is one portable, self-contained hand-wash station with its own water supply, delivered ready to fill. Make, model and configuration follow the unit assigned to your order, so we confirm the details that affect your plan when you reserve rather than publishing a generic spec that may not match the unit that arrives.

The customer supplies water and consumables under Rental Agreement §7.5. That includes keeping soap and paper towels stocked; JOLT does not arrive each shift to refill the station.

The unit can be added to any JOLT rental or ordered alone. When paired with an office, the mobile-office inclusion answer helps prevent the station from being mistaken for a standard office feature.

Do not use the wash station as a dumping point for paint, coatings, herbicides, insecticides, fuel or other harmful material. The station supports hand washing; it does not change the Rental Agreement restrictions on hazardous materials or remove the customer's responsibility for lawful handling.

The customer bears risk of loss from delivery through retrieval. Keep the station inside the managed work area, and use the broader jobsite security answer when assigning lighting, perimeter and closeout checks.

Where should the station be placed?

Put it close enough to the work that crews will use it, but outside vehicle paths, material swing zones and door clearances. The surface should be firm, level and well drained so the station remains stable and the approach does not become a mud pocket.

At an office, favor the normal pedestrian entrance rather than the truck side or mini-split condenser area. At a food-service tent, separate hand washing from waste handling and keep the approach open during delivery, meal peaks and breakdown.

Use a small placement plan for an event or large site. Mark the station, expected users, refill route and the person responsible for checks; if one group would have to cross an active equipment route to reach it, the location is not doing its job.

Protect the station from site traffic with layout and supervision; it is a light portable unit, not a bollard. Do not block fire routes, accessible circulation, exits or the path our crew will need at retrieval.

Delivery to Gypsum, our home town, is Zone A — $400 each way. Basalt and Keystone are Zone C — $750 each way, while Aurora and Castle Rock are Zone E — $1,200 each way.

Those zone assignments affect transportation, not the station's monthly rate. A superintendent ordering several stations should provide each placement address rather than assuming one town's delivery line applies across a regional program.

If the station travels with a container, leave the truck route and container placement clear as required by the larger unit. The hand-wash location can be finalized after placement, but a customer representative should still be ready to direct where it goes.

How should you run it day to day?

Assign the station to a named person or crew. At the start of every shift, check the water supply, soap, paper towels, drainage condition, the pumps or taps, cleanliness and stability; check more often when headcount or use is heavy.

Set the refill cadence from real consumption rather than a calendar guess. A lightly staffed ranch site and a festival meal period will empty supplies at different rates, and weather can change use during the same project.

Keep refill water and consumables where the assigned person can reach them without leaving the station out of service for long. Record checks in the same daily log used for sanitation or site-safety items if the GC plan or event permit calls for documentation.

Watch the area around the base. Standing water, ice, mud or discarded towels can turn the wash point into a slip and housekeeping problem even when the pumps and dispensers are working.

Clean touch surfaces and sinks on a cadence appropriate to use, and remove waste before bins overflow. At events and emergency camps, increase checks around shift changes and meal periods instead of waiting for a complaint.

Restock before work begins around paint, coatings, herbicides, insecticides or other harmful contaminants. The cited federal rule requires adequate washing facilities near that work; an empty dispenser or dry tank does not become adequate because equipment was delivered.

Plan where the used water goes before the first refill. Portable stations normally hold used water in a separate tank rather than draining to the ground, and that tank fills roughly as fast as the fresh tank empties; confirm the arrangement on the assigned unit when you reserve. Emptying it is the customer's job, and it should go to a sanitary sewer, an approved holding tank or a dump point that the site, venue or local authority allows; do not tip it into a storm drain, a ditch or the ground beside the station. On a long job, match the gray-water run to the refill trip so one person handles both in one visit.

What is the cold-weather plan?

The station is not freeze-proof. Before freezing conditions, drain it or bring it inside a heated unit at night, then inspect and refill it before putting it back into service. Moving rented equipment needs JOLT's prior written consent under Rental Agreement §5.5, so request consent for overnight sheltering when you reserve rather than on the first cold night.

Do not wait for the first frozen morning to choose who will move or drain it. Write the trigger, location and responsible person into the daily plan, especially on mountain jobs where a mild afternoon does not protect equipment overnight.

A heated office can provide overnight shelter when there is room and the move can be made safely. Keep the station from blocking the personnel door, outlets, working aisle or emergency egress, and return it to the designated wash location before the shift.

The READY office upgrade is the furnishing package for an eligible container office that the station may accompany. READY does not heat or protect a station parked outdoors, and upgrades in the upgrade hub do not stack directly on hand-wash equipment.

If draining is the chosen plan, include emptying, inspection and morning refill in the assignment. Do not put the station back in service until water, pumps, soap and towels have been checked after cold exposure.

Snow management matters too. Maintain a clear approach, keep plowed piles from surrounding the unit, and prevent meltwater from refreezing where people stand to wash.

For a remote event or emergency camp, maintain a backup operating plan if weather prevents safe use at the intended location. That plan is the customer's operational responsibility and should be settled before crews arrive.

How do delivery and setup work?

Use reserve to provide the job address, requested delivery window and any container or equipment arriving with the station. The deposit confirms a specific station and window after JOLT reviews the order.

The standard delivery window is 2–4 weeks from reservation. JOLT Express applies only to the Base 20 ft office, not to a hand-wash station ordered alone or bundled with other equipment.

Our truck brings the station from Gypsum and places it where the customer's representative directs, subject to safe access. Before arrival, make the surface ready, clear the approach and decide who accepts responsibility for water, supplies and the first inspection.

If a container is on the same order, coordinate the station around the larger delivery. A 20 ft unit needs about 70 ft of straight-line clearance, while a 40 ft unit needs about 100 ft, and the portable station should not be staged in that working path.

The how it works sequence covers reservation, delivery, monthly rental and pickup. Give the confirmed equipment list to the receiving superintendent or event lead so the station does not arrive without an assigned location.

Any move of the station, including sheltering it overnight, needs JOLT's prior written consent under Rental Agreement §5.5, so ask at reservation. It may never be taken to a different job address.

What happens at pickup?

Give at least 15 days' written notice when the station is no longer needed. Rent continues until retrieval, so send notice based on the actual demobilization date rather than the last scheduled crew shift.

Drain the station, remove customer-provided consumables and waste, clean it and leave it accessible. Clear snow, parked vehicles, temporary fencing and stored material from the retrieval route before our truck arrives.

Property left with the equipment is deemed abandoned under Rental Agreement §16. A failed pickup trip is charged, making a final access check worthwhile even for equipment with a small footprint.

Pickup costs the same as delivery in Zones A–E. Zone F pickup is quoted in writing before delivery, so carry that amount and the 12-month Zone F minimum in the original plan rather than settling it at closeout.
