Jobsite rentals in Idaho Springs — from our I-70 yard

Delivery to Idaho Springs is Zone E — $1,200 each way, with the unit traveling 100 road miles east from our Gypsum yard. Pickup at the end of the rental is a separate $1,200 trip, and the fee is the same for a compact box as for a 40 ft office.

Idaho Springs is where an I-70 project begins to behave like a mountain project. The town sits at 7,526 ft (Wikipedia), with narrow ground between Clear Creek and the interstate, older storefronts along Colorado Boulevard and sloped sites above the valley.

How much does the Gypsum haul add to an Idaho Springs rental?

The direct answer is two Zone E legs: $1,200 when we deliver and $1,200 when we retrieve. Rent is separate, so a 20 ft Base office adds $795/mo per month with a three-month minimum, while a 20 ft storage container adds $295/mo per month with a one-month minimum.

That distance changes which orders make financial sense. A single storage box for a brief remodel carries the same two truck trips as a twelve-month office on a long civil job, so the longer order spreads the haul across many more months of use.

Two recurring percentages should be on every comparison sheet. The damage waiver is 12% of rent plus recurring upgrades, with theft excluded and the deductible and other exclusions stated in Rental Agreement §12; the environmental fee is 5% of that same base and is not compounded on the waiver.

The reservation deposit holds the unit and is applied to the first invoice. Use $750 for an office or 40 ft unit and $350 for a 10 ft, 12 ft or 20 ft storage box; the complete deposit and fee list is on pricing.

Written cancellation received more than 14 days before the first day of the delivery window is free, while cancellation inside that period forfeits the deposit under Rental Agreement §2.2. That distinction matters when a permit, owner approval or traffic plan could still move the start.

When should you call a nearby Front Range yard instead?

Use a local yard for one short-term storage container, for a same-week requirement that is not a Base office, or for a site that will move across town. Those are poor fits for a mountain-yard haul because every off-site move creates another pickup and delivery rather than spreading the trips across a long assignment.

JOLT can move a unit within the same property for $450, but the customer may not move it under Rental Agreement §5.5. If phases jump from one Idaho Springs parcel to another, price both transport legs before choosing the yard.

For a longer office-led project, ask every yard the same questions. Is the heat and cooling included, are lights and outlets included, is the furnishing package separate, what percentages recur each month, and is the delivery unit new or previously used?

Our Base office answer is specific: a 20 ft ISO office measuring 8 ft by 8 ft 6 in, with a 36-inch steel personnel door, two barred slider windows, mini-split heat and cooling, a 50-amp shore-power inlet, lights, outlets and vinyl-plank flooring. Ask the same line-item questions for security and internet. Is the camera hardware included or rented, does satellite service have a data allowance, what powers it before temporary electrical service, and what happens when the project lasts past its first anniversary?

What must be ready before the truck reaches the valley?

Reservation starts the standard 2–4 week delivery window. The route follows I-70 from Gypsum, and exits 240 and 241 serve Idaho Springs; final placement can still be more difficult than the highway miles suggest when a lot is pinned between Clear Creek, a building and traffic.

A 20 ft unit needs about 70 ft of straight-line clearance, while a 40 ft unit needs about 100 ft. Check road width, turning room, grade and overhead clearance against Rental Agreement §5.2, then use the delivery-space answer to walk the intended truck path.

The receiving surface must be firm, level and well drained, and a representative who can direct placement must be present. A slope lot is not fixed by asking the driver to set a box crooked; review placement on a slope and foundation needs before preparing the pad.

Mark utilities and the intended corners before dispatch. If access, weather, an absent representative or an unready pad prevents placement, the trip is charged and rescheduled under Rental Agreement §5.3.

CDOT's I-70 Floyd Hill project has been under construction since 2023 between west of Evergreen and eastern Idaho Springs and passed halfway in July 2026 (Colorado Department of Transportation). A staging plan should account for that work zone rather than treating the final interstate miles as ordinary metro travel.

The standard window is deliberately a window, not a promised hour on a specific future day. JOLT Express is available only for a Base 20 ft office, placing it on site within 7 business days for $750; storage, Grid-Free, Alpine and equipment remain on the standard schedule.

Which container fits each Idaho Springs site?

Start with access, then choose capacity. Tight Colorado Boulevard work or a small hillside remodel may point to the 10 ft box, an 8 ft wide standard-height container with half the floor of a 20 ft unit, a long-side man door and barred window, plus end cargo doors.

The 12 ft storage container is also 8 ft wide and standard height. It has a man door and one barred window on the long side with cargo doors at the end, making it useful as a walk-in tool crib where a 20 ft footprint is awkward.

A 20 ft storage unit is a one-trip, standard-height ISO container with cargo doors, four lock bars and a welded lockbox, but no windows or personnel door. The 40 ft high-cube box is 9 ft 6 in tall with cargo doors and a welded lockbox, and its three-month minimum suits a substantial material package rather than a quick cleanout.

For administration, choose among the three 20 ft office tiers. Base handles a powered site, Grid-Free adds WATCH, CONNECT and POWER with a 10 kWh battery that runs the HVAC without shore power, and Alpine includes those systems plus a matte-black mountain envelope with cedar surrounds, standing-seam over-roof, covered entry deck and backup heat.

The 40 ft office with bathroom includes an enclosed bathroom at the far end, mini-split, 50-amp inlet, lights, outlets and vinyl-plank floor. It requires the longer 40 ft approach, so do not select it before checking the site geometry.

Who handles permits and historic-site approvals?

The customer handles every permit, zoning approval, HOA consent and landlord consent under Rental Agreement §5.2(d). Idaho Springs is in Clear Creek County and ZIP 80452; confirm which authority controls the parcel and whether temporary placement is covered by the larger project approval.

For a visible historic Colorado Boulevard job, ask the local reviewing office whether temporary-unit placement or appearance needs separate review. Do not reserve a street-facing position based only on the assumption that a movable box falls outside the project's approvals.

Also ask whether the truck can occupy the access point during unloading and whether a separate traffic arrangement is needed. The Colorado permit answer gives a useful question list, but the customer still must obtain the decision for the actual address.

Idaho Springs had 1,782 residents in the 2020 Census (U.S. Census Bureau), so major work can compete with ordinary local circulation on a compact street network. Coordinate the owner, delivery representative and any public-access restrictions before the unit leaves Gypsum.

If the job needs a controlled perimeter, temporary fence consists of galvanized chain-link panels 6 ft tall by 10 ft wide with steel tube stands and clamps. Rent is $3.50/LF/mo, installation is $1.75 per linear foot and removal is billed at the same per-foot rate; the panel-count answer helps convert the measured run.

Traffic-control equipment can support work near a constrained access point when the project's approved plan calls for it. The Basic package includes 25 cones, six Type II barricades and two sign stands, Standard includes 50 cones, ten Type III barricades, eight vertical panels, four sign stands and two flagger paddles, and Full adds a solar arrow board and 2 flashing barricade lights to Standard.

Those packages rent on a one-month minimum at $495/mo, $695/mo and $975/mo respectively. They do not replace an agency-approved traffic plan or the customer's permits, but ordering them with the office can keep field equipment under one reservation and billing schedule.

Confirm where every device will be stored before delivery so it does not consume the container truck's turning area. Coordinate its return with the main pickup rather than leaving loose equipment in the recovery path.

A hand-wash station at $85/mo can ride on the same reservation for a crew working a distance from the nearest plumbed sink.

How do crews plan for snow, frozen ground and short days?

Treat 7,526 ft as winter country, not as Denver with a longer commute. The customer must clear snow, ice and debris from roofs, condensers, panels, doors and access paths under Rental Agreement §7.4, and must keep the approach usable for service and final pickup.

Every office has mini-split heat and cooling. Alpine's standing-seam over-roof, covered entry and backup heat give a winter-focused option, while the winter office answer and snow-load guide cover the operating questions a superintendent should assign.

Frozen excavation and cold-weather concrete call for different equipment. A ground heater is a trailer-mounted hydronic thaw and cure unit with insulated hose on a reel, rented in season for $1,450/mo on a one-month minimum.

A light tower rents for $1,250/mo and carries four LED floodlights on a mast extending to about 30 ft, with a generator cabinet on a single-axle trailer. It supports work after an early sunset, but the operator remains responsible for use according to its instructions.

Pickup deserves the same winter planning as delivery. Keep the unit empty, clean and accessible and provide at least 15 days' written notice; rent continues until JOLT retrieves it under Rental Agreement §16.

How can an office work before utilities arrive?

Grid-Free is the direct answer when the mini-split must run without shore power. It includes everything in Base plus WATCH, CONNECT and POWER, with a 10 kWh battery pack capable of running the HVAC, at $1,495/mo on a three-month minimum.

On a Base office or storage unit, POWER supplies two 400 W panels, a 3 kWh LFP battery and inverter for Starlink, camera, lights and laptops. It does not run the mini-split, so ask a competing yard whether its solar quote covers office HVAC or only small electrical loads.

CONNECT provides a Starlink Mini, router and 50 GB Roam plan for $259/mo, with unlimited service as a $75/mo add-on. WATCH adds a solar LTE panoramic camera, motion alerts and cloud clips for $129/mo, while the JOLT Pack combines WATCH, CONNECT and POWER for $699/mo.

Terrain, weather, sky view, third-party networks, sunlight and load affect those systems. Rental Agreement §13.2 makes no uptime promise, and §13.3 assigns required recording notices and consents to the customer.

The connectivity decision should follow the daily work plan. CONNECT suits document access and ordinary field coordination within its included data plan, while unlimited service is a separate recurring line; crews moving large files should decide that before mobilization rather than after the allowance is used.

Security planning also extends beyond the camera. Position the unit so the WATCH view covers the intended approach without needlessly capturing neighboring property, keep the welded lockbox in the access plan, and assign someone to review motion alerts. The customer remains responsible for the site and for lawful use of recordings.

Office rentals and the 40 ft storage box have three-month minimums; other storage, fence and equipment have one-month minimums. After the minimum, rent continues month to month until at least 15 days' written notice and retrieval, and rates rise 5% on each delivery anniversary under Rental Agreement §3.4.
